There are so many movies made about New York that even if you have not visited the place you have thorough knowledge about it. Most of the people are familiar with icons like Statue of Liberty and Empire State building.

I have visited the apple city a couple of times but I still feel I have only scratched the surface. It is a city of diversity and contrast. The mix of different cultures that is seen in New York is probably more evident than any other city in the world.

You will come across the elegant architecture of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) to the fine Beaux-Arts building that is Grand Central Station – a spot for many romantic meetings since it was built in 1903. You have everything from Chinatown to Little Italy to the skyscrapers of Wall Street and the now fashionable areas of Soho and Tribeca along with the little Bohemia that is Greenwich Village. These are all places that are worth seeing but there are many more to list.

If you like your city grittier, spend an afternoon wandering through Little Korea, or cross the river for some innovative art at Pierogi 2000 in Williamsburg and check out the moves at the West 4th St Basketball Courts before rounding out your day with a little ballet at Lincoln Center. Do not get surprised if your day of high culture turns edgy when you come across a gorgeous jazz singer on the subway platform. There is greater variety that can seen, even while you are enjoying the Bohemian day do not get shocked when a chic boutique seduces you, and you’re shelling out for perfect shoes before you know it.

This is New York, completely unpredictable which is one of the reasons why people from all over the globe turn up to New York grasping at their silver-screen visions – and finding them – but discovering sufficiently more on the way. It can be said that New York is incredibly straight forward yet bizarrely complex.  This city has so many sides and dimensions and an equal amount of opportunities to offer, but it can be intimidating, even to the most urban-minded of visitors. If you approach this place with openness in your mind and you will definitely be met with staggering and unexpected rewards.

New York is one of the worlds top tourist destination which has a perfect combination of skyscrapers, world famous art galleries and great shopping destination. This is the reason why countless people have pinned their dreams on the place, thrown caution to the wind and shown up on its doorstep.

Thanks for saying such nice things about our city. I hope everyone who reads comes for a visit!

It’s the greatest city in the world in my opinion, and you’re right: You won’t scratch the surface in a month without a guide. Tourists wander around and miss 90 percent of what’s right in front of their face. It can be sad.

That’s a great picture, by the way. Did you take it?
