San Francisco is situated on the west coast of America, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco bay and is a perfect vacation getaway. If you are a foodie you should definitely visit Taqueria Cancun and Farolito and Mission district lodges some of the finest places that offer mouth-watering tapas (beef meat) and burritos.

San Francisco is known for its diversity – from the hippie haunts of Haight-Ashbury to Chinatown. The stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and the modern, cosmopolitan vibe of San Francisco offer a reason to visit this gem on California’s coast.

Some of the places which are worth visiting are listed below.

  1. Alcatraz: Alcatraz Island, located in the middle of San Francisco bay, is an infamous federal penitentiary. You can walk through the cell blocks where Al Capone, the Birdman of Alcatraz, and many others were once held. The infamous prison is located on Alcatraz Island – just a 10-minute ferry ride from San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. Tourist generally travel to visit this place and tours are very often sold off in advance, so when you confirm your dates of travel book your tour to Alcatraz also.
  2. Golden Gate Bridge: This well known bridge is the gateway to San Francisco and is acclaimed to be one of the world’s most beautiful bridges. It was also considered as one of Seven Wonders of the World and is a miracle of man-made ingenuity and design. With its tremendous towers, sweeping cables and great span, the Bridge is a sensory beauty featuring color, sound, light which makes it one of America’s most cherished landmarks.
  3. China town: Chinatown is an electric neighborhood of 100,000 people where you can get taste of Hong Kong’s present and past with its authentic markets and fantastic restaurants.  You can visit this lively marketplace where fresh fish and vegetable stands catch the eye, or try some authentic Chinese cuisine at one of the local eateries. You can also visit the herbal shops, museums or temples for an inspiring look at an ancient way of life
  4. Fisherman’s Wharf:Fisherman’s Wharf is known for its significant waterfront, scrumptious seafood, magnificent sights and distinctive shopping. You can have an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and the cityscape from this place.
  5. Golden Gate National Recreation Area:This is the largest urban national park in the world which contains 74000 acres of land and water. You will find roaming bison, picturesque windmills, numerous museums and even a carousel. The park is a joy to experience to tourists of all ages. Golden gate national park is home to some of the nation’s most stunning floral and foliage ensembles.
  6. Cable car: San Francisco is one of the few places in the world where people use the cable cars for their daily commute. You can take a cable car ride and also visit the Cable Car Museum.
  7. Union square: This is one of the main retail and cultural centers featuring everything from upscale department stores and boutiques to discount houses. You can find finest hotels, restaurants and stores. Gucci, Louis Vitton, Coach, Cartier, Disney Store, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and much more in the union square shopping area
  8. Pier 39: Pier 39 offers several waterfront attractions including dining, shopping, live entertainment and sea lions. This is known to be the third most popular attraction in the US.

San Francisco  is definitely worth visiting..!!

    I lived in SF for many years. You know when you live somewhere and EVERYBODY who visits wants a tour. In SF, they all want to go to Alcatraz. And do you know what? I looked forward to it every single time. I love Alcatraz!
