Day 26 – Sin City Las Vegas

Travel Experience | | April 4, 2010 at 10:58 pm

A tiring journey to Las Vegas, almost four and half-hours but yes they were fruitful after looking over at the mountainous ranges on freeways across the city of Los Angeles and the outskirts of Las Vegas. We took our morning pick-up from Days Inn at Hollywood right at 7:00 am. The bus was a shuttle bus that took us around the place where we were supposed to take over a big Luxbus Liner. It was long and luxurious bus providing us good comfort while on a travel with big windows and of course a free wi-fi service. After reaching Vegas, we were directed to our respective hotels. As we entered, I could sense there is lots of fun going on outside.

Sin city Las Vegas
There were shopping outlets on the roadside for a quick bargain and highly decorated bigger hotels and casinos like Flamingos, Caesars Palace, Imperial Palace, Casino Royale, Harrahs and lots of others. The streets were clean with Water Mountains all over the place and I surely knew that night time is going to be fun with colored water sprinklers on the streets. Our hotel was Imperial Palace right on 18th floor which reminded me of my house on 19th floor in Mumbai. The hotel rooms were spacious and staying in a Suite is altogether a different experience, isn’t it? Well, the hotel was huge with around 5 towers and a swimming pool on the second floor.

Las Vegas casinos
The evening in Las Vegas is never boring I am sure and of course I know you are sure as well! There are casinos and if you lost all your money in a Casino then you can surely grab a drink and dance around with singers dancing on the Caesars Palace Las Vegasramp. The beautifully designed outlay of the hotels makes you feel cozy and each hotel here has a VIP list of guests especially invited for parties held here. Probably, a Seven star or a diamond guests. At the night drew closer, it became colder and I could see people delved in to drinking and just wanting to have more fun.

Each Casinos have a shopping arcade with lots of eating outlets, the favorite here is Meat and seafood. The hotels were offering discounted coupons for shows and also “buy one get one” policy over drinks. It was fun to see people winning and losing and some were just sitting over the machines and watching what was going on. The forum shop and sephoria are a beautifully done up shopping arcades here offering you some of the best brands around the world. My best Las Vegas tours and attractionsexperience was at Caesars Palace, their shopping area makes you feel that you are roaming around the streets with the ceilings artificially made to look like an open sky. I think again there is some kind of marketing strategy here, with the blue skies above, you would never know what time of the day or night it is.

Well, moving over on to the streets there were fire shows arranged by bigger hotels and it would play every one hour till the midnight. The water showers shoots up high in the sky according to the music being played and in between a blow of fire to make it look dangerous. People on the streets used to gather quickly to have a look at those water-fire shows. I must say, a very creative thought to attract the attention. The experience at Madame Tussauds was simply an amazing and thrilling one. I used the word “Thrill” because there was one “Scream” room inside that had live actors performing the acts that horrified us. They did not touch us but they were seriously dangerous to look at. The museum had different statues of celebrities, sports personalities, singers, and Hollywood actors including my favorite Brad Pitt. It took us nearly 45 minutes to get our pictures clicked with each of them. At the end, I saw a wax statue of our own Mr. President, Barack Obama. I was nearly pleased to see him upfront even though if it was a statue.

Las Vegas nightlife
The spring in Vegas is an awesome experience especially when you are out with your family. You can enjoy the shining flowers and foliage; every strip in Vegas has huge lush green properties on landscaped areas. As I mentioned earlier too, the nightlife in Vegas is a hot fun and a pleasurable experience with glitzy bars and huge night clubs. Most of these nightclubs open at 10:00 pm, the most famous of the night clubs here are the TAO and LAVO. They are known for the best table service, the best DJs and celebrity parties around the town. The best and amazing things about Vegas is the monorail service offering you the best connectivity. You can get going across the city within 15 minutes, the Las Vegas Monorail gets you connected to the city best restaurants, shops, clubs, dance bars, hotels, casinos in a comfortably clean environment. The monorails connects to seven stations taking you to MGM grand, Bally’s/Paris las Vegas, Flamingo/Caesars, Harrah’s/Imperial, Las Vegas Convention center, Las Vegas Sahara and Hilton. You will just take about a couple of minutes to reach any stops you want to go to. They offer $5 tickets for single ride and unlimited rides tickets as well, the tickets are available at all monorail stations and online at

Sin city Las Vegas
The best recommended shows in Vegas Strip are “The Beatles LOVE” held at the Mirage, “Viva ELVIS” at Aria resort,  Mystere at Treasure Island, “O” at Bellagio, Criss Angel at the Luxor Las Vegas,  Zumanity at New York Hotel and the casino, Hitzville, Fab Four live, Stripper 101 and Sin city comedy at Miracle Mile shops. The free shows on strips include Bellagio fountains and  botanical gardens, fall of atlantis at Caesars,  Fremont Street experience,  MGM lion habitat, Rain storms at Miracle mile shops, Rio Masquerade show in the sky, Sirens in Treasure Island, The Mirage Valcano, V theater fountain show and lots others.

It was a fun filled evening with lots of free entertainment on the strip. Looking for our tour tomorrow to Grand Canyon and Hover Dam.
