There are huge cannons surrounding the statue of a naked woman paying tribute to the premier California governor, Gasper de Portola. Verdant vegetation encircles the bastion with an archery range located adjacent to it.

Other prime places of interest in Montjuïc are the Magical Fountains, the font magica del montjuicCatalan National Art Musuem or MNAC and the Olympic Stadium. The spell bounding musical magic fountain with its overall lighting and water spurts is best enjoyed after dusk with the best views from outside the MNAC museum located atop the Montjuïc Mountain that houses relics from primeval era to the 19th century.

  1. If you are in Montjuic and enjoy art, I believe you will enjoy visiting Fundacio Joan Miro. It is the gallery of the famous Catalan, surrealist artist Joan Miro(1893-1983).

  2. Regarding Montjuic I would add also the Fundacio Miro, one of the most interesting museum in town. It definitely worths a visit.
The Olimpic Stadium, it has been Barcelona’s second soccer team stadium for the last 10 years, but Espanyol just moved to Cornella.
